With the arrival of spring - and with warmer weather on the horizon, it won't be long before Brits start trading in their thick sweaters in for T-shirts. However, while the T-shirt is one of the most basic items of clothing anyone can own, T-shirt styles and trends have evolved significantly over the years. It's now common for fashion-conscious consumers to research trends on T-shirts before choosing a set to wear throughout the season.

What are some of the hottest T-shirt trends for spring and summer 2010? Graphics are definitely still in and they have been for some time. However, even graphic trends tend to change from one season to the next. This season, expect to see a lot of psychedelic prints, tribal designs, glam 'tourist' T-shirts, and even some logo T-shirts. A funky pattern or graphic can really make an outfit stand out, not to mention set the 'tone' of your style. If, for instance, you're trying to achieve a more feminine look, opt for classic feminine prints and colours - such as flower graphics on a pink or pastel tee. If, on the other hand, you want an edgier look, opt for darker colours and more abstract graphics. Metallic graphics are also very much in this season, which will complement any look that you're trying to go for.

Of course, you'll also want to pay attention to the colour of your T-shirts. Black and white T-shirts will always fall into the classic category; but this season is also in favour of bright, bold coloured T-shirts. Necklines will range from high and medium scoop necks, to medium and deep V-necks, for both men and women.

Finally, consider the length of your T-shirts. When buying top names such a Diesel T shirts, it's now popular for men to wear long T-shirts. Women can go either way - very long and create a T-shirt dress - or cropped to show off the effects their gym membership has had on their abs. Similarly, the width of T-shirts has evolved significantly over the years. T-shirts are traditionally form-hugging. However, it's now very common to see baggier T-shirts that are designed to hang on the body rather than to hug it.

Pick up a few T-shirts that are in line with this season's trends, and wear this basic, yet essential fashion item, while looking your very best. With so many new and appealing trends to turn to, you're bound to find a T-shirt style that suits you.
